American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Program Announcement
Dear Friends:
While this program announcement comes a bit late (my apologies), you might still be able to catch part of the series.
The current economic recession is increasing the incidence of suicide, and the risk of serious (and suicidal) depression increases during and immediately after the Christmas and New Year's holidays. If you, or someone whom you care about is feeling suicidal, or speaking of suicide, please seek immediate help. Anyone threatening suicide should be taken seriously. Please scroll down and look for the Suicide Prevention and Depression links and contact information.
While waiting for emergency professional help to arrive, please Do Not Leave Leave A Suicidal Person Alone. Your company, even for a brief period can save a life. If you are thinking about suicide, seek immediate emergency care -- Don't Stay Alone while you wait for help to arrive... get on your phone and call until you find a friend who will keep you company, or go to a place where there are other people.
Please -- all of Humanity is irreparably damaged by the loss of just one life. Your life, or your loved one's life might be the one destined to change the world, or perhaps to save it. Life can sometimes be sheer torture, but get help before you do something which can never, ever be undone. There's hope and there's help.
